Leitrim County Council (Irish: Comhairle Chontae Liatrioma) is the local authority which is responsible for County Leitrim in Ireland. The Council is responsible for Housing and Community, Roads and Transportation, Urban planning and Development, Amenity and Culture, and Environment. The head of the council has the title of Cathaoirleach (Chairperson). The county seat is at Áras an Chontae, Carrick-on-Shannon.
For the purpose of elections Leitrim is divided into four local electoral areas: Ballinamore (5), Carrick-on-Shannon (7), Dromahaire (5), and Manorhamilton (5).[1] Elections are held every five years.
